(More customer reviews)I have previously owned a Rowenta iron, which was made in Germany and worked flawlessly every time. Unfortunately, after a couple years of heavy use, the unit would no longer power -- at all. I replaced it with the $60 Rowenta Effective DX1900, the item featured here. Because I thought highly of the brand, I never noticed until after I took the unit home that this one was made in China. I was disappointed. For the price, I could have saved some money with another cheap unit also made in China. Rather than return the unit, I decided to keep it to see how long it would last. After just a couple months, the iron is basically useless. The safety auto-off switch is faulty, so every five seconds I have to tap the unit in just the right place and with just the right amount of force to resume heating. Forget just a gentle tilt like my previous unit.
All in all, I am disappointed with Rowenta more than this specific product. I feel betrayed, as though the company has traded in quality to make an extra buck.
